Steve Kilburn MP Member for Chatsworth says it is really important to him to keep his local community and sports groups up to date on the latest news regarding State Government grants.

As such, he’ll be running an information session for local community groups on Tuesday May 31.

“There are many grants available to community groups these days and it can be valuable to be aware of them so that they can achieve the best possible tools and resources to service their membership,” Steve said.

At the information evening, officers from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Department of Sport and Recreation will detail grants available, when these grants close and who is eligible to apply.

An officer from Kevin Rudd’s office will give an overview of funding given by the Federal Government.

A representative from the South East Advertiser will discuss how community groups can get stories in their local paper which can attract new members.

Steve said that Chatsworth community groups, including Southern District Basketball Association and Carina Youth Agency, have recently been successful when they applied for grants under the Solar Sport and Community Groups Grant.

“Our school P & Cs have had received funding for sports equipment, sun shades in play areas and local garden clubs and women’s groups have also benefitted from funding for resources,” he said.

So it sounds like it’s going to be an informative evening. I’m attending too and am looking forward to catching up with more locals.
