Janine Healy and Mark Davies

There’s some exciting things happening for local kids who are into, or want to try, swimming.

There’s a great new team member at the Carina Leagues CJ’s Swim Club as well as an exciting new scholarship opportunity.

Janine Healy has joined Head Coach Mark Davies (both pictured right) as Assistant Coach at CJ’s which is based at the Clem Jones Centre.

Janine was selected for a “Women in Sport” scholarship from the Queensland Academy of Sport. She has also worked with Scott Volkers training swimmers who competed at the Atlanta Olympics.

She swam at a state level and was chosen to train at the Australian Institute of Sport and went on to win a scholarship to St Peters Lutheran College.

Janine says her motto is “everyone is a champion”.

In a great community spirited move, the Clem Jones Centre is sponsoring scholarships with CJ’s.

Carina Leagues CJ’s Swim Club is offering 5 local swimmers a scholarship package that will include squad fees, club membership, a sports nutrition assessment to optimise performance and health, uniforms, and more. And the scholarship will be run under the direct guidance of Mark & Janine.

CJ’s are looking for junior and intermediate swimmers who have potential for swimming at a national level.

For more information, check out the sponsorship section of their website and download the application form.
Enquiries can be directed to Head Coach: Mark Davies 0417 834 793.

Applications close Friday 29th June 2012, so get in quickly!
