Australia Post has confirmed that it will maintain a presence in Westfield Carindale by opening a ‘Community Postal Agency’ within Terry White Chemist, expected to open in late April 2013.
The Carindale Post Office is still relocating to the Metropol Shopping Centre. That move looks to be happening ahead of schedule with plans to move over the weekend on 13 – 14 April 2013.
The ‘Community Postal Agency’ provides a more limited offering of Australia Post products and services. It will provide stamps, prepaid satchels, Express Post satchels and weighing and sending of mail and parcels.
For the full range of products and services, including bill payment and banking services, locals will need to use the Post Office in the Metropol Centre, an Australia Post spokesperson said.
“Australia Post is pleased to announce that we’ll be retaining a postal outlet in the Westfield Centre to provide Carindale residents with greater access and convenience to postal services,” said Kerri McConnel, Australia Post Regional Manager Retail Services Queensland.
“We have listened to our customers, and ensured there is adequate demand for this additional service in Carindale that will not impact the customer numbers at other nearby post offices.”
Federal Member for Bonner Ross Vasta says this is a big win for the community.
“You will all recall that I lobbied Australia Post on behalf of Carindale residents for Australia Post to retain a presence at Westfield Carindale and they have done so,” Mr Vasta said.
