Hi everyone, just to let you know, at our next community meeting I have organised The Heart Foundation to give a presentation on How to Live Longer and Healthier – we all need tips on that !! It will be on Wed 29th Feb, at 7pm – Belmont State School (cnr Scrub Rd & Old Cleveland Rd, Carindale). Come along and meet lots of locals. Have a chat a cuppa and a laugh – get involved with Our Community !! Invite other neighbours to come along.
I would appreciate any locals who could help me letterbox drop our information flyers for this info night. I drop about 2000 flyers and I still don’t cover all the area – if you can help walk a few streets and drop some of our flyers please call me on 0414 99 14 74 – cheers ….Glenn Millar

I’m looking forward to the 2012 series of community forums at the Belmont State School.
I’ve found the forums to be a great way to meet my neighbours and have an informal chat over a cuppa, after listening to a speaker presenting topics of local interest.

I am looking to hire a hand-cycle and am hoping to use the bike paths around Carindale. If it works out, I’ll look into buying one. I’ve lived in the area for more than 30 years but know nothing of where the bike paths go.

I think it would be worthwhile to look at the root cause of this issue, and not rush into bandaid fixes like the park and ride proposed. The current sitaution has been caused by a lack of funds for public transport and a subsequent reduction in the quality and frequency of services. The council decreased funding from $231 million in 2009-2010 to $205 million in the 2010-2011 budget period. Council bus services are simply not being expanded to meet extra demand from outer areas, so these commuters end up at carindale.

As Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Economic and Finance Committee, Schinner is well aware of these funding issues. It seems that Schinner and Minnikin are seeking shift blame to the state government, thereby avoiding the appearance that the LNP in council has anything to do with the current situation.

I would rather petition for extra funding for transport services, than see millions of dollars spent on the temporary solution a park and ride offers.

Swimming is really fun and good exercise; it’s a good to encourage our kids in swimming while they are still young. Anyway, congratulation to the young swimmers and I hope they achieve their dreams and continue working hard with their training; they’re the pride of their country.
