Press Release: Police Minister Neil Roberts and Commissioner Bob Atkinson today joined local MPs Steve Kilburn and Cameron Dick for the official opening of the new Carina Police Station.

Mr Roberts said the state-of-the-art facility – at the corner of Narracott Street and Creek Road – would serve as the base for local policing in Carina and surrounding suburbs for many years to come.

“The construction of this new facility was a commitment made by the Bligh Government in the lead-up to the 2009 State Election and we have delivered on that commitment,” Mr Roberts said.

“The station replaces the former Camp Hill Police Station which has been identified by the Police Service as no longer being suitable to meet the needs of the local community.” Continue reading »

The Premier gave examples of how small business will benefit from the economic growth generated by the resurgence of mineral extraction industries.

Senior citizens are surfing the web with confidence and, most importantly, with safety thanks to a program launched in the Metropolitan South Region by the Carindale Police-Citizens Youth Club (PCYC). The project was initiated after members of the Carina Senior Citizens Club expressed concern over their members falling victim to scammers on the Internet, to the extent that they were no longer confident to use computers.
