The Queensland Government has launched a campaign titled Foster a child. Foster a future.

State Member for Mansfield and Minister for Child Safety and Sport Phil Reeves says that the campaign encourages community and sporting groups to promote the benefits of foster care to their members. A largely wealthy area such as the Carindale region may be well placed to put the call out to potential foster carers.

Ian Walker - LNP candidate for MansfieldThe LNP candidate for Mansfield Ian Walker has raised the issue of speeding through school zones.

He says that while the issue may not always be in the spotlight, it was of high importance across the community.

“My school P&C parents and teachers are all concerned about the safety of their kids at school drop-off and pick-up. With school just back, this is an important time to renew the emphasis on this issue and protect our children,” Mr Walker said. Read the rest of this entry »

Petitionbus services

There’s a new petition regarding the bus services along the Creek Road corridor and the need for better cross-suburban services between major hubs such as Carindale and Garden City. The petition, posted online yesterday, asks for the introduction of additional bus services between Garden City and Carindale via Creek Road. The chief petitioner is Ian Walker, LNP Candidate for Mansfield.

Brisbane City Council Budget

Lord Mayor Cr Graham Quirk handed down his first budget today. There is $552.8 million in the budget for improvements to the suburban road network.

Deputy Mayor Cr Adrian Schrinner (Councillor for the Chandler Ward) has listed the local area road resurfacing projects in the budget, $2.5 million in total:
