Cannon Hill State School

The Fete Committee at Cannon Hill State School is currently in planning mode. I caught up with Tanya Zenoni, the CHSS Committee’s Fete Convenor, to find out what support they are seeking for the event so that Carindale Connect can get the word out to the neighbourhood to help gather community support. Events such as this are a great way for local organisations to connect directly with families.

If you feel like setting yourself, your friends and family a healthy challenge – say a 3km, 5km or 10km challenge – why not get involved in this upcoming fun run/walk taking place on Sunday 19th June?

The Fit Kids Community Fun Run Walk, now in its second year, is a fundraising event run by the Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School Parents & Citizens Association. The course is along the Bulimba Creek Bikeway, starting at the Carindale Recreation Reserve and then heading towards Minnippi Parklands – a fairly flat route with some gentle inclines.

I spoke to the school’s P & C Association President Alison Blacker about the event.

Morningside FestivalMorningside Festival, now in its 15th year, is seeking stall holders for their event on Sunday, 31st July 2011. It runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Rogoona Street Park, Thynne Road, Morningside. The Street Parade starts at 10:00am.

The festival is run by the Morningside Development Association which is seeking high quality arts and craft, food and community groups stalls to be a part of this year’s event. So who’s going? Have you been to a previous Morningside Festival? Let us know in the comments section …
