Metropol Medical CentreThe Metropol Medical Centre, located in the Metropol shopping village, has seen some positive growth recently. Last year the centre increased its opening hours to 7 days a week and last month saw the addition of a new doctor.

Dr Vanessa Serrano, who has been living in the Carindale area since her childhood, is the newly appointed GP at the Metropol Medical Centre.

She has special interests in family medicine, mental health and skin checks.

“She [Dr Serrano] is very excited about the opportunity to serve her local community,” Judith Wyllie-Smith, the medical centre’s owner/manager, says.

The Metropol Medical Centre, established in 2003, now has four Doctors (General Practitioners): Dr Jacqueline Garden, Dr Yousef Sa-adi, Dr Kris Mylonas and now Dr Vanessa Serrano.  The practice also has a Clinical Psychologist, Jill Davies-Evans; a Podiatrist, Emilia Bran; two practice nurses; and four administration assistants. A dietician and audiologist also conduct regular visits to the practice.

The Metropol shopping village, where the medical centre is located, includes a butcher, bakery, dentist, hair salon, video store, and restaurants. It is soon to get a post office following the plans for Australia Post to move from Westfield Carindale.

Ms Wyllie-Smith says they are excited about the prospect of the post office opening there in April.

“It is obviously going to generate more traffic through the shopping centre and I’m sure be easier to park to do your mail services,” Ms Wyllie-Smith said.

“There is a bus stop right out the front of the centre which will be convenient for people with no transport.”

The Metropol Medical Centre provides bulk billing to all children 15 years and under between the hours of 10am and 3 pm Monday to Friday. It is located on the corner of Pine Mountain Rd and Creek Rd on the Mt Gravatt East, Carindale and Mansfield border.
