The “Bellas” is a group of women who play social soccer in Carina on Tuesday nights. Some have played before and some are brand new to the sport. The emphasis is on keeping fit and having fun. I’m lucky enough to play with them too (while having very little sporting experience!). I’m featuring a Bella here about once a week. Meet Mariana, she’s a keen and brilliant Bella who, until Bellas, had never played soccer before!

Tell us about any soccer background you have
I have never played soccer before and I was looking for something fun that at the same time will keep me fit and I found it. Social soccer is great!

Tell us about any other (non-soccer) sport background you have
Coming from a non sporting family the only two sports I was motivated to practice were Chess, which I used to play when I was a kid with my dad! … And swimming.

What do you like about Bellas soccer?
They are a very supportive group, they welcome you and make you part of the team; plus this is a healthy and fun way to stay fit and have a really good time.

Do you have any favourite sports teams / sports stars?
I have become a Tennis fan since living in Australia; one of my favorite players is Roger Federer.

Do you have any favourite local restaurants/cafes?
Satay Ria in Cannon Hill Shopping Centre, love it! My favorite dish Honey Chicken!

What are your other interests / things you spend time on outside of Bellas and work?
I enjoy spend time with my family and friends; having a nice dinner, or watching movies; but quiet days are also perfect for a good book.
